The Last Nomads brings stories of modern nomadic life to Paris

The Last Nomads, a profile book produced by journalists from the Mongolian news outlet Ergelt.mn, was launched in Paris, France, marking the latest stop in a European series of book introductions that has included Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
The launch was attended by officials from the Embassy of Mongolia in France, members of the Mongolian community living and working in Paris, and students and researchers of Mongolian studies. The event coincided with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and France, a milestone that participants said made the introduction of a journalistic work documenting Mongolian life particularly meaningful.
Attendees expressed their impressions of the book.
“One of the most important ways to introduce Mongolia to foreign readers is through the launch of The Last Nomads. The book contains very touching stories about Mongolian people, from the doctor who saved a four-year-old boy from freezing to the herder who protects wild animals,” one attendee said.
Another participant noted:
“The Last Nomads presents many different lives and environments, particularly the unique character and qualities of Mongolians. I appreciated that the book goes beyond a single biography and portrays nomadic life in a distinct and compelling way.”
Guests emphasized that the English-language edition of The Last Nomads will serve as a resource for general readers as well as scholars and researchers.
